Easy Outfit Updates to Transition your Mom Uniform to Fall

Frump.

Frump is something many of us moms fight on a daily basis. Much like a picky eater, a strong-willed child, or a two-year-old, it is a daily battle. We wear the same leggings, nursing tanks, or t-shirts. All of them stained from spit up, last night’s dinner, and maybe a splash of wine. Day after day. Pinning those perfect outfits thinking that tomorrow will be the day that we pull one together.

My solution is to have a few go-to outfits that work great at the park, the bus stop, or running errands.

With the weather finally cooling off, Fall is the perfect time to update my mom uniform for a perfect transition. Here are a few looks that I’ve been loving lately.

Fall Outfit Updates

Just add a Sweater.

They don’t call it sweater weather for nothin’. If you are trying to do a little extra with your everyday leggings, the cooler weather makes it easy to throw on a cozy sweater and go. Toss on some laid-back sneakers and a hat for bad hair days.

Black on Black

If you are going to grab one of the 100 pairs of leggings that you own, keeping it monochromatic translates into sleekness… Rather than no time to shower. I added a plaid button up around my waist just to break it up a little and keep me warm if needed. Black booties give my legs a little extra length; a welcome change from my everyday flats.

What Jeans are Made of

Finding a great pair of jeans has always been a real struggle for me. And with many ethical brands for denim costing a little more than my comfort level, I was super stoked to be able to find a great fitting pair second hand. Couple that with an easy breezy button tunic top, and slip on shoes. This combo will have you feeling fresh in seconds.

The Mom Bun

You really can’t talk about mom life without our favorite hairstyle, the mom bun. Whether you call it a top knot or a messy bun, understand that this simple updo is almost always going help you out.

Earrings

I tend to keep accessories simple too since I seem to always have a curious toddler pulling at them. My favorite amethyst earrings here were a gift from my husband a few years back.

Rings

I always wear either my wedding set or two of four silver Tebitian rings that I love.

Necklace

I typically wear this copper monocle that I found a vintage shop as a necklace, or my rose gold engraved necklace that my husband gave me.

Bonus! Date Night

If you are one of those fairytale couples that goes on dates, try transitioning your favorite summer dress into Fall with a cute jacket and booties. This dress and jacket I have had for 6 years!

And there you have it! Just a few of my favorite outfits and accessories that keep me sane and feeling like a functioning member of society. Do you have a mom uniform? Do you have pieces that you always wear or like to use to transition into Fall?
