This is the month when witches gather their wisdom, sensing that the season has turned fully, marking a time for reflection and preparation. We pull out our books, light our candles, and start planning for the months ahead.
Witch's Almanac: Rituals For Cleansing
As October settles in, it is urging us to pause and find our center. It’s a time when the world asks for balance, not just in what we do, but in who we are.
It asks you to tap into your own wild independence, to embrace your authentic self without apology. Carry or wear carnelian during this time, letting its fiery strength bolster your resolve, reminding you to stand firm in your truth.

Feathers, representing air, are perfect for a cleansing ritual. Gently sweep a feather around your body, visualizing it removing any imbalances or negativity from you. As you do, feel the air element carrying away what no longer serves you, restoring harmony.
Wind Meditation
Find a quiet outdoor spot where you can feel the wind on your skin. Close your eyes and take deep breaths, imagining the air carrying away your worries and bringing you into balance. As the wind blows, visualize it aligning your thoughts and emotions, leaving you feeling centered and at peace.
Incense and Breathwork
Light a calming incense, such as lavender or sandalwood. Sit quietly and focus on your breath, allowing the gentle smoke to fill the space around you. With each inhale, imagine drawing in balance and clarity; with each exhale, release any tension. Repeat this until you feel harmonized within.
Affirmation Writing
Write down affirmations focused on balance, harmony, and truth. Let the act of writing connect you to the air element’s ability to bring mental clarity. Read your affirmations aloud, letting the words float into the air as intentions for the new moon. You can burn the paper afterward, letting the smoke carry your intentions.
Wind Chime Intention Setting
Hang wind chimes in a place where you can hear them. As the breeze moves through the chimes, focus on setting intentions for balance and peace in your life. Each time the wind chimes ring, visualize the air carrying those intentions out into the world, creating harmony both within and around you.
Breath of Balance Visualization
Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, imagining the air filling your body with balance and harmony. Hold for a moment, then release slowly, letting go of anything that throws you off-center. Repeat this breathing exercise, visualizing the air helping you find your inner equilibrium with each cycle.

The Full Moon calls for bold release and action. This is a time to let go of anything that holds you back from fully embracing your individuality.
The Hunter’s Moon is a symbol of preparation. It reflects the time when hunters would gather food for the winter, embodying themes of resourcefulness and sustenance. This moon invites you to embrace your inner warrior, encouraging bold actions and a fierce determination to pursue your goals. As the light of the Hunter’s Moon illuminates the night, it calls you to use your passion and drive to take charge of your desires and secure what you need for the journey ahead.
Knot Magick for Releasing
During this full moon, tie a knot in a piece of cord representing what you’re ready to release, then burn it to free yourself from its weight.
Fire Release
Find a safe space outdoors where you can build a small fire or use a fire-safe bowl indoors. Gather your thoughts as you light the fire, feeling its warmth embrace you. Hold a piece of paper in your hands and write down what you wish to release (negative emotions, old habits, or fears). As you place the paper in the flames, visualize the fire consuming those burdens, transforming them into smoke that rises into the sky. With each flicker of the flame, feel your worries dissipate, leaving you light and liberated.
Candle Purification
Light a black (absorb/banish) or white (Reflect/all-purpose) candle, depending on your intention. Take a few deep breaths, allowing the candle’s light to draw you in. Focus on the flame as it dances, illuminating what you want to release from your life. Picture the wax melting away the weight of your burdens, transforming them into a radiant light. As the candle burns, whisper your intention of release. When you’re ready, snuff out the candle respectfully.
